Anne's actions
At Home
Hold the Mail
I will reduce the amount of paper mail that I receive by 3.4lbs (1.5kg) a month or 41lbs (18.6kg) a year by opting into paperless billing, ending unwanted subscriptions and opting out of junk mail.
At Home
De-Clutter My Home
I will de-clutter, clean, and donate or recycle unneeded items in my home.
Week 1 Focus: Recycling and Composting
Recycle Plastic Bags
Instead of trashing them, I will recycle 1 plastic bags by bringing them to a drop-off.
Food
Shop the Bulk Bins
I will purchase 10 products from the bulk section of a grocery store that lets me use my own containers to do so.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHow has buying bulk impacted the quality of the food you receive? Why do you think our society relies more on prepackaged foods rather than buying in bulk?
Anne Scheible 5/31/2021 5:02 PMThis is easier now that I am going to the grocery store and not ordering things online. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAt HomeHow can you prevent yourself from accumulating more things in the future?
Anne Scheible 5/31/2021 5:00 PMI always start in the same places - my kitchen and my bedroom. These areas are actually in good shape and so I don’t find much clutter there. I need to start in the basement where there is a lot of clutter to clear out. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWeek 1 Focus: Recycling and CompostingHas separating your plastic bags for recycling helped you identify how you might reduce how many you have? What are you doing differently now?
Anne Scheible 5/14/2021 11:12 AMI have the cloth bags but some of the veggies get soft in them. Also when I open the refrigerator, I don't notice the vegetables in the cloth bags. Then I realized that I could use plastic bags and containers that I've washed and saved to store the veggies.
