Give the Gift of Experiences
I will give experiences instead of things for gifts.
Food
Use a Grocery List
I will make and use a grocery list that accounts for what I already have in my fridge and cupboards.
Food
Buy Unpackaged Produce
I will avoid 15 plastic bags by not bagging my produce or using reusable produce bags.
At Home
No More Wish-cycling
I will recycle the right materials by educating myself on what goes in the bin and keep other things out.
At Home
Complete a Waste Audit
I will conduct a waste audit - including recyclables and compostables - to understand how much waste I create and where I can reduce the most.
At Home
De-Clutter My Home
I will de-clutter, clean, and donate or recycle unneeded items in my home.
Week 1 Focus: Recycling and Composting
Find Local Recycling Drop-Off Centers
I will find out where to take the recyclable items that I can't put in my curbside bin.
Belongings
Needs vs. Wants
I will adopt a "Needs vs. Wants" approach and only buy things I need.

REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Give the Gift of ExperiencesWhat did you give as a gift? Do you think the recipient has ever received a gift like this before? What did they think of it?
Kristina Kvarnlov-Leverty 5/12/2021 5:30 PMRather than give my mother a mother's day gift, we went for a walk and had dinner together. -
Kristina Kvarnlov-Leverty 5/12/2021 5:23 PMI have been realizing that to really go as close to zero waste as possible, eating fruits and vegetables and healthy grains is key. I am curious are there ways, other than making it yourself, for accessing dairy-free "dairy products" locally that has less plastic waste? I have been noticing more "yogurts" that are in glass. are there dairy-free milk options in glass or compostable containers? -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAt Home Complete a Waste AuditWhat did you learn about the waste you create? Where can you reduce the most?
Kristina Kvarnlov-Leverty 5/05/2021 7:44 AMI am noticing that other than dog pee training and dog food. My major waste creator is quick and easy food and beverages. If I choose to snack on chips and similar snacky foods and drink pop, mineral water, etc. That is where my waste is coming from. Take out bags and containers too. When I cook at home, eat and drink healthier, my waste decreases significantly. But I am also cleaning out old papers and materials from work and that has also lead to a lot of recycling waste. How can I reduce word related waste? And I need to work on changing my diet. There are lower or zero waste stress foods. (:
