I could stop buying snacks packaged in non-recyclable containers.

How can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?

I sew and craft for myself and for others.  I actually find clothing lying around.  I pick it up and wash it.  Sometimes if it is in good condition and I don't want it, I give it to a thrift store.  If it is in not so good shape, I'll fix it and wear it or give it to someone else.  Some times, I will scavenge parts of the article of clothing (buttons, zippers, elastic) to use in my own products.  I try to use all that I can and come up with creative uses for everything.

    At Home Hold the Mail
Reducing your paper mail can be such a freeing action to take -- by reducing what is coming in, you can reduce what is going into the recycling bin, too. How does it make you feel? What is the next step you will take to reduce your waste?

I have gone through the list of opt-out websites and signed up for all I could.  Next time I get another catalog which I do not want, I will opt-out of that one also.  There are certain bills I wish to receive by mail and those I will keep.  Others will be changed to online billing.

I frequently clean up the neighborhood in which I live.  One can see certain trends on certain blocks and one has to wonder about who lives there and if that is why the block is so messy or clean.  At the corner of Lake and 12th Street there is an unused building which always has larger items of trash left there.  I know the building has been sold and that nothing has happened with it.  Because I take the bus, I always clean up the bus stops in which I wait.  It is a good thing to do.
